The Leitz 5cm (50mm) f3.5 Elmar is an historic lens. When Leica introduced one of the world's first interchangeable lens 35mm cameras, this was the first lens they made for it. The 5cm f3.5 Elmar is small, lightweight and a solid performer that enjoyed a production run lasting almos three decades. When not in use the Elmar collapses almost flush with the face of the camera. Even today this is still a great lens to purchase for a Leica M39 rangefinder.
